Story and Game Apps

I love working on these. Interactive stories, sound-boards, educational games. All good stuff for kids!

In 2005 I designed, iIllustrated and animated an educational AIB kids website for Allied Irish Bank. I loved it more than any other website project and it was a giant, flashing, neon sign-post to working in games and eLearning.

Only in 2010 did I get the call from Marino Software to collaborate on a Story App of the Three Little Pigs followed by illustration, animation and storyboarding for 5 more interactive projects. Best projects ever.

Editorial & Comics

I've enjoyed a lot of interesting and varied work for newspapers, magazines and books. Sometimes handling the cover design too.

For newspapers I've tended to do more serious, even disturbing pieces, for writers like Eamonn Dunphy and the late Veronica Guerin.

My sequential illustration attracted Sunday Independent, who required a visual telling of a football riot; a city bombing and brutal terrorist murders.

Comics

I was always a comics storyteller—even in art college—until I discovered animation. But I've returned to comic art and writing, largely due to the re-discovery of my childhood, home-made comics. (It's amazing what we can learn from our younger selves!)

Between * Wars

This latest ICN Award Nominated comicis a semi-autobiographical nostalgia comic about kids in the '70s.

Star Wars & ALIEN

Amongst the trove of childhood comics there's a 185-page adaptation of Star Wars begun when I was 9, soon after I saw the film in 1977. I published it online, and it's been featured on numerous websites and even got a full-page feature in Spain's CINEMANIA magazine! Since then, I've published my ALIEN adaptation of 1979, too!
