Story and Game Apps

I love working on story and game apps—like interactive stories, sound-boards and educational games.

In 2005 I designed, iIllustrated and animated an educational kids' website for Allied Irish Bank. I loved it more than any other website project. It was a giant, flashing, neon sign-post to working in games and eLearning!

Not until 2010 did I get the call from Marino Software to collaborate on a Story App of the Three Little Pigs followed by illustration, animation and storyboarding for 5 more interactive projects.

Editorial & Comics

Beautiful, fun, odd, brutal. I've enjoyed a lot of interesting and varied work for newspapers, magazines and books. In some instances, I've handled the cover design too.

For the newspapers I've tended to do the more serious, even disturbing pieces for writers like Eamonn Dunphy and the late Veronica Guerin.

My sequential illustration talent got me my first job with the Sunday Independent when they needed to give a visual account of a major football riot; later, of a bombing in Manchester and of some brutal terrorist murders.

Comics

I always wanted to be a comics artist—even in art college—until I discovered animation (that's another story). But in the last few years I've been a comic artist and writer, largely due to the re-discovery of scores of my childhood, home-made comics. Do you know? - it's amazing what we can learn from our younger selves!

Between * Wars

I briefly flirted with an office/work-based comic but it just wasn't my thing. The new comic - which I'm loving - is Between * Wars; a nostalgic semi-autobiographical comic about kids in the '70s.

Star Wars (and Alien)

The trove included a 200-page adaptation of Star Wars which I began to draw at the teeny age of 9, right after I saw the film in December 1977! I published the whole thing online, and it's been featured on numerous websites and even got a full-page feature in Spain's CINEMANIA magazine! Since then, I've published my ALIEN adaptation of 1979!
